Win more deals by ensuring important meetings are taking place and your team is well prepared.

Overview
Connecting your team's Microsoft Outlook calendars is an important step in unlocking the power of Opine. Calendar data powers project timelines, deal tracking, and collaboration features within Opine.
How Opine Uses Microsoft Outlook Data
All Microsoft data is used in accordance with our privacy policy.
Opine reads event details (title, description, times, status, recurrence, visibility), attendee lists, organizer/creator information, and event links from users' Microsoft Outlook calendars. Only non-private events are accessed, and only for users whose email addresses are known in your CRM and match your Microsoft tenant domain.
Once you complete configuring the Microsoft Outlook integration, calendar events that have an end date after three months ago and a start date up to the end of next quarter are imported. Only events from calendars of deal collaborators are imported.
Events that are directly marked private are not included in any analysis. Please let us know if your organization uses a default calendar ACL that makes all events private (such as a "busy only" configuration).
Configure
There are two ways to configure the Microsoft Outlook integration, depending on your organization's security requirements and setup:
Application Permissions (recommended): This allows Opine to read the calendars of any user in the organization and avoids the need for periodic reauthorization. There are two read only application permissions granted to Opine by a Microsoft tenant admin, so our abilities are limited.
Delegated Authorization: This allows Opine to act as the single user who authorizes the integration. This may impose limitations on calendar access because we must read other user's calendars as this single user, and it will be necessary to periodically reauthorize. There are several read only delegated permissions requested in the authorization flow.
Choose the method that best fits your organization's security policies and Microsoft tenant configuration.
Please note:
Once an Opine organization has connected to a Microsoft tenant, that tenant ID is now reserved. No other Opine organization can collect calendar events from this tenant.
Only calendars for Opine user and CRM collaborator email addresses having an identity in the Microsoft Entra tenant are read.
Option 1: Application Permissions (Recommended)
This method provides the most comprehensive calendar access for your organization and enables continuous background synchronization without requiring users to reauthorize. It relies on a Microsoft tenant admin to complete installation.
Key Benefits:
Continuous Access: Enables background synchronization without periodic reauthorization
Admin Control: Admins can revoke access at any time through Microsoft Entra admin center
No User Disruption: Installation won't be disrupted by OAuth token policies or user password changes
Take these steps to configure the integration.
Verify the Microsoft tenant domain of calendars used to manage events related to your CRM deals.
Authorize Opine to access your Microsoft tenant user's calendars through admin consent.
Connect the integration in your Opine organization.
Verify Domain
Visit the Microsoft Outlook integration installation page in your Opine organization and ensure Application Permissions is the selected option. Note the Domain we will be reading calendars from, reflecting the domain of your Opine user email address. This is the Microsoft tenant domain that must authorize admin consent to our application.
Authorize
The Opine user installing the integration must have admin consent privileges in your Microsoft tenant. This allows them to grant the necessary permissions to our Microsoft application during the installation process.
Prerequisites:
The Opine user must be a Microsoft tenant administrator with the ability to grant admin consent
Admin consent privileges are required to authorize application permissions organization-wide
Application permissions that will be granted to Opine:
Calendars.Read- Read calendars of all usersUser.ReadBasic.All- Read all users' basic profiles (needed to identify calendar owners)
Connect
Visit the Microsoft Outlook integration installation page in your Opine organization
Ensure Application Permissions is the selected option
Click Connect to begin the admin consent flow
Complete the Microsoft admin consent process when prompted
Grant the necessary calendar permissions to authorize the integration
Option 2: Delegated Permissions
This method relies on consent of a single user and does not require a Microsoft tenant admin to complete installation.
Important Limitations:
Periodic Reauthorization: Installation may be disrupted by your organization's OAuth token policies or user password changes, requiring periodic reauthorization
Limited Calendar Access: May limit Opine's ability to read all relevant calendars, particularly in cases where other users have not shared their calendars, or the organization has not configured a default calendar sharing policy
User Dependency: Relies on the authorizing user maintaining access and valid credentials
Authorize to Connect
Visit the Microsoft Outlook integration installation page in your Opine organization
Select Delegated Permissions
Complete the Microsoft OAuth consent flow by clicking Continue with Microsoft
Grant the necessary calendar permissions when prompted
The Delegated permissions we use to read calendars and events:
User.Read- Read the authorizing user's own basic user profileUser.ReadBasic.All- Read basic user profiles of other usersCalendars.Read- Read the authorizing user's own calendarsCalendars.Read.Shared- Read calendars shared with the user
