Configure

Take these steps to configure the integration.

1. Select the Slack integration in the organization settings.

2. Authorize the Slack integration with selected scopes.

3. Configure deal update frequency.

4. Link Slack channels to specific deals.

Connect

Authorize the integration to get started with installation. The Slack user installing the integration must have permission to install a Slack app into the target Slack team.

The following scopes are requested by the Opine app:

• app_mentions:read - View messages that directly mention @opine

• commands - Enable Opine shortcuts and slash commands

• channels:join - Automatically join user-selected public channels for posting deal updates

• channels:history - View messages and other content in public channels that Opine has been added to

• channels:read - View basic information about public channels in a workspace

• chat:write - Send messages as @opine

• emoji:read - View custom emoji in messages Opine has permission to read

• groups:read - View basic information about private channels that Opine has been added to

• groups:history - View messages and other content in private channels Opine has been added to

• im:read - View basic information about direct messages that Opine has been added to

• mpim:read - View messages and other content in group direct messages that Opine has been added to

• mpim:history - View messages and other content in group direct messages Opine has been added to

• users:read - View people in a workspace

• users:read.email - View email addresses of people in a workspace

Linking Deal Channels

During the pilot process, it is very common for vendors to create a Slack Connect channel for their customer or prospect alongside an internal channel for collaborators to communicate about the deal. The Opine Slack bot can be linked to an Opine deal to enable valuable capabilities, such as automatic analysis of messages using AI to extract useful sales insights.

To link a deal to Slack:

1. Invite the Opine Slack bot to the Slack Connect channel with your buyer, and the internal channel where collaborators communicate about the deal

2. Navigate to the specific Opine deal that you'd like to link to Slack channels

3. Click the Connections button at the top of the page

4. Select the Slack channels that you'd like to link to the deal

Shortcuts

Use the Post deal update shortcut to quickly add an update to a deal's Activity log from your connected Slack workspace. Shortcuts are activated from any channel using the Run shortcut button below the message entry box, or you can activate Slack's Jump to conversation dialog with a keyboard shortcut and type "Post".

Note that only Slack users with an email address that matches an Opine user having the same email address and is a member of your Opine organization will be able to interact with the Opine Slack bot.

Updating Permissions

Occasionally, the Opine Slack application will require new permissions to perform additional functionality or in response to changes in Slack's permissions structure.

Any Slack admin can quickly reauthorize the Opine application with the correct updated scopes by clicking the Update Permissions button and then following the prompted off-site authorization flow from Slack.
