If your team and customers use Slack to communicate with each other, you’ll want to connect relevant Slack channels to deals in Opine so that Opine AI can automatically identify blockers, next steps, or insights from Slack discussions.
There are two steps to configuring Slack:
Follow these steps to connect Slack to Opine:
You must have the necessary permissions to install apps in the target Slack team. (If you don’t have permissions to install apps, you’ll need to ask your App Managers to for access.)
On the authorization screen you’ll be asked to grant permissions to Opine to access your Slack workspace. Click Allow to grant Opine access.
The following permissions are requested by the Opine app during authorization:
app_mentions:read: View messages that mention @opine.
commands: Enable Opine shortcuts and slash commands.
channels:join: Automatically join public channels for posting updates.
channels:history: View content in public channels where Opine is added.
channels:read: View basic information about public channels.
chat:write: Send messages as @opine.
emoji:read: Access custom emoji in messages Opine can read.
groups:read: View information about private channels Opine is added to.
groups:history: Access content in private channels Opine is added to.
im:read: View basic details about direct messages Opine is part of.
mpim:read: Access content in group direct messages Opine is part of.
mpim:history: View history of group direct messages.
users:read: Access information about workspace members.
users:read.email: Access email addresses of workspace members.
Opine supports two types of Slack channels for ingestion:
Customer Slack Connect Channel: Use this if you have a shared Slack Connect channel with the customer to capture direct communications between your teams.
Internal Slack Channel: Use this to track discussions within your team about the deal, providing critical internal context.
We recommend that you connect both channels to Opine:
Once connected you can use the Post deal update Slack shortcut to quickly add an update to a deal's Activity log from your connected Slack workspace.
To use the shortcut:
Open the channel in Slack
Type /
and select Post deal update
Fill in the appropriate information and submit
Please note: Only Slack users who are members of your Opine organization and have matching email addresses in both systems can interact with the Opine Slack bot.
From time to time, the Opine Slack app may need additional permissions to enable new features or adapt to Slack's permission changes.
Any Slack admin can quickly update these permissions by clicking the Update Permissions button and following Slack's authorization process.
